The City of Johannesburg has officially announced an exciting career opportunity for legal graduates and aspiring investigators. The Office of the Ombudsman is looking for vibrant, detail-oriented individuals to join their team as Trainee Investigators under a short-term EPWP contract.

Job Overview: Trainee Investigator (EPWP)

​The primary role of a Trainee Investigator is to support the Office of the Ombudsman in fulfilling its mandate to investigate complaints as outlined in the Ombudsman By-Laws, 2023. This position is vital for upholding integrity within municipal governance.

  • Department: Office of the Ombudsman
  • Branch: Complaints and Investigations
  • Remuneration: R10 104,26 pm (Total cost to company)
  • Location: 48 Ameshoff Street, SAPPI Building, Braamfontein
  • Contract Duration: Short-term (Not exceeding 18 months)

Minimum Requirements

​To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Degree in Law from a recognised institution.
  • Residency: Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.
  • Experience: Relevant experience is not mandatory but will be considered an added advantage.

Key Performance Areas & Competencies

​As a Trainee Investigator, you will be involved in the following activities:

  • ​Complaint intake and initial assessment.
  • ​Investigative support, research, and data analysis.
  • ​Stakeholder engagement and awareness outreach.
  • ​Reporting and documentation.
