Launch your healthcare career through our HWSETA-Funded Phlebotomy Learnership Programme. Gain comprehensive, hands-on experience in blood collection, laboratory procedures, and professional patient care. This fully accredited program combines structured classroom learning with real-world clinical exposure, preparing you for HPCSA registration as a qualified Phlebotomy Technician.
Programme information:
- Duration: 24-month full-time training starting late January 2027
- Format: Combination of online classes and in-person training Monday to Friday. This is a full-time course and no alternative employment can be allowed
- Practical Experience: Hands-on workplace exposure at Ampath Care Centers
- Locations: Training sites in Centurion (Gauteng) and Westridge (Durban, KZN)
- Cost: Funded by HWSETA and Ampath Laboratories.
All candidates will be subjected to a structured assessment process and a panel interview before acceptance to the programme.
Both programme options provide practical exposure, recognized qualifications, and a gateway to a rewarding healthcare career.
Application information:
- You will be required to complete a form, skills test and video interview as part of the application process.
- Please prepare to upload the following documents on the form:
- Certified copy of your ID/Passport
- Valid VISA (if not a South African citizen) – only applicable for private-funded applicants
- Certified copy of your matric certificate
- Your updated CV
- Please ensure that you have access to a calculator for the skills test.
- Make sure you are in a well-lit location with no distractions for the video interview.
- A confirmation email will only be sent after completion of the video interview. Candidates who do not complete the entire process will not be considered for the position
Role Requirements
- Age requirement: Under 35 years, as this is a youth empowerment and skills development initiative of the HWSETA.
- Academic qualifications:
- Minimum of 60% in Matric Pure Mathematics, Life Sciences/Biology, and English
- No qualifications above NQF Level 4 to be eligible for HWSETA funding
- Technical requirements: Smart phone/device with stable internet connection for online learning
