Job Description
The General Assistant will be responsible for supporting the overall operations by taking customer orders, preparing basic drinks, maintaining cleanliness, stocking shelves, and performing other general tasks to ensure smooth customer experience, all while adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
Requirements
- Certificate in Hospitality will be advantageous
- Grade 12
Work Experience
- +- 2 years working in the hospitality environment
- Working experience in private healthcare will be advantageous
Knowledge
- Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders
- Serving beverages such as coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks
- Serving food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries
- Answering customers’ questions about menu choices
- Promoting and recommending menu options to customers
- Tracking and ordering inventory for cafe and beverage supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, napkins and cups
- Maintaining espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines and other equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs
- Keeping the work environment and cafe seating area clean, sanitary and organized
- Responding to and resolving customer concerns or complaints
- Cleaning and rearranging the store after hours
- Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality ofservice
- Attracting new customers and refining the menu
