Safair Operations, operating as FlySafair, has a vacancy for a Passenger Services Trainee at our Cape Town Airport. The successful applicant will report to the Duty Station Supervisor.
Job Description
- Ensure passengers are guided to the correct check-in queue and counters as required for smooth processing;
- Check-in Closure Support: Assist in directing and filtering passengers to the appropriate queues as check-in closure approaches;
- Ground Handling Assistance: Support ground handling staff by removing old baggage tags, tagging bags for families and groups, and assisting with general baggage handling as needed;
- Document Preparedness: Encourage passengers to have identification documents ready as they approach the check-in counter, enhancing process efficiency;
- Special Passenger Assistance: Prioritize and guide elderly passengers, those needing extra assistance, and families with young children to expedite their check-in process;
- Hand Luggage Monitoring: Use sizing bins to check and monitor hand luggage compliance within the check-in queue;
- Baggage Payment Processing: Operate Baggage Payment (POS) devices in the queue to assist passengers who need to complete baggage fee payments;
- Security Queue Support: Interns to assist at security checkpoints, advising passengers to remove laptops, belts, and watches to facilitate faster processing at the Central Security Point;
- Queue Fast-Tracking: Help expedite processing for passengers with imminent flight departures if long queues are present;
- Maintaining Queue Area Neatness: Keep check-in counters and queue areas tidy, aligning stanchions, removing trolleys, and ensuring the queue system is organized and unobstructed;
- General Guidance: Provide directions to passengers for nearby facilities such as the OOG belt, restrooms, boarding gates, and smoking areas.
Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years and older (Essential);
- Must be able to cope with pressure (Essential);
- Fluent in English (Essential).
- Communication skills;
- Customer service;
- Time management;
- Own transport.

Location: Cape Town Airport.
Eligibility: Family members of FlySafair staff, 18 years or older, fluent in English, well-groomed, and able to work under pressure.
Training: 07 April – 11 April 2025
Dress Code: Professional attire (Black or Navy pants/skirts/dress, white or navy/black blouse/shirt; no sleeveless tops or colorful jackets/shoes).
